Bush's Ace in the Hole (Very Long)...

Since the press won't inform us of the law, I am determined to inform myself and those around me. Friends, as you will read below, if the Secretary of State in Florida doesn't receive the votes from Palm Beach by Tuesday, they are dead in the water... The Florida State Elections Canvassing Commission (a Rebublican commision) will ignore the county and certify Bush as the winner. If anyone contests that decision it will go to the Florida legislature (also controlled by Republicans). Have faith in our laws my friends:

The 2000 Florida Statutes

Title IX
ELECTORS AND ELECTIONS Chapter 102
Conducting Elections And Ascertaining The Results View Entire Chapter

102.111 Elections Canvassing Commission.--

(1) Immediately after certification of any election by the county canvassing board, the results shall be forwarded to the Department of State concerning the election of any federal or state officer. The Governor, the Secretary of State, and the Director of the Division of Elections shall be the Elections Canvassing Commission. The Elections Canvassing Commission shall, as soon as the official results are compiled from all counties, certify the returns of the election and determine and declare who has been elected for each office. In the event that any member of the Elections Canvassing Commission is unavailable to certify the returns of any election, such member shall be replaced by a substitute member of the Cabinet as determined by the Director of the Division of Elections. If the county returns are not received by the Department of State by 5 p.m. of the seventh day following an election, all missing counties shall be ignored, and the results shown by the returns on file shall be certified.

(2) The Division of Elections shall provide the staff services required by the Elections Canvassing Commission.

I have a feeling these hand counts will be either done by them or the liberals legal motions for time extensions will be granted.

But don't the oversees absentee ballots have 10 days to come in? Are those not counted in county-by-county? Am I the only one who sees a contradiction?

Wow … that sounds encouraging.

However, since when has this crowd (the Dems) ever thought the rules applied to them? They will ignore it for the sake of ensuring “the will of the people” is adhered to … Well at least the will of the people who wanted Gore. Apparently the will of the rest of us is no more then fodder.

Don’t stress though … at least not for the moment. Stay focused on the things we can do for now that may be helpful. Write and call all your reps daily. Educate any around you who are falling for the Gore party line. Pressure your local media to get it right. And Pray.

Did the judge that ordered the recounts address this fact? Better look closely, because something isn't making sense here.

Just to answer a few questions.

First, the judge that stopped certification pending a recount in Palm Beach, stopped certification "before Tuesday". Thus, the results can still be certified and forwarded to the canvassing board before 5pm on Tuesday (heck I'll drive it to Tallahasee for them!!!).

Second, the Florida statute requires qualified overseas voters to get the ballot to the county boards "before 7pm the day of the election:"

" The 2000 Florida Statutes

Title IX
ELECTORS AND ELECTIONS Chapter 101
Voting Methods And Procedure View Entire Chapter

101.6103 Mail ballot election procedure.--

(6) With respect to absent electors overseas entitled to vote in the election, the supervisor of elections shall mail an official ballot with a secrecy envelope, a return mailing envelope, and instructions sufficient to describe the voting process to each such elector on a date sufficient to allow such elector time to vote in the election and to have his or her marked ballot reach the supervisor by 7 p.m. on the day of the election."

I believe the 10 day period is a grace period afforded at the discretion of the State board. I will keep searching for an answer to this question since I don't have a definitive answer yet.

The BLU-82 is a 15,000 pound GP bomb originally designed to clear helicopter landing zones in Vietnam. The warhead contains 12,600 pounds of GSX slurry and is detonated just above ground level by a 38-inch fuze extender. The weapon produces an overpressure of 1,000 pounds per square inch. Eleven BLU-82s were dropped during Desert Storm, all from Special Operations C-130s. The initial drops were intended to test the ability of the bomb to clear mines; no reliable bomb damage assessment exist on mine clearing effectiveness. Later, bombs were dropped as much for their psychological effect as for their destructive power.

During desert storm observers who saw the detonation of this bomb thought that it was infact a nuclear device.

Not to be immodest, but I told you so.

CNN is reporting that Volusia county is suing to extend the Tuesday deadline. My guess is that although the law allows for a protest to be lodged after certification on Tuesday, the Democrats (e.g. Asses) are trying to look better by suing to "extend the recount" rather than "protesting the certified vote."

By the way, since counting 1% of Palm Beach County took 10 hours, I REALLY doubt the recount of the entire county will be done sooner than a few weeks.

George,

OK, I remember seeing film footage of these being used in Vietnam. I imagine a couple of these would do the trick nicely...

Alas, for PB: can't live with 'em - can't kill 'em. What to do........

Many thanks.

Ken

From ABC News Sunday:

1) The Secretary of State has the discretion to (and indeed will) stop all the "recounting" wrangling by certifying the vote on Tuesday by 5pm.

2) Volusia and Palm Beach counties will sue to stop the Secretary of State from certifying the vote

3) The absentee ballot issue is up to the Secretary of State. Since "received by 7pm on November 7" is subject to postal service, the Secretary of State, at her discretion has allowed 10 days after the official deadline (which I guess she could change)

To summarize, the dudu is going the hit the fan on Tuesday. The Democrats will have to go to court to force the issue, and the People will be pissed that their will is caught up in court. Spread the anger.

Just saw on ABC news that the Florida SecState has announced that the Tuesday deadline WILL be enforced. The network also stated that the hand recount will NOT be completed by Tuesday, and noted that it took the Palm Beach Co. Election board 9 hours yesterday to hand recount 1% of the vote. 9 hours x 100 / 24 = 37.5 days to do the full hand recount. (My math.)
Yeah, there's a lawsuit to extend the deadline, but judges usually know to stay out of elections unless there is widespread evidence of fraud. So far, there is no evidence of Republican fraud, only widespread Democratic stupidity.
