Bushmaster VMatch

1. Use a punch and hammer to drive out the taper pins that hold the gas block in place. The pins are tapered so make sure you are driving them out, not further in. Whack the taper pins like you mean it. If you taptaptaptap on the taper pins, you'll flare the end of the pin making it more difficult to get them out.

2. Once the taper pins are out, you can gently tap the gas block forward off the muzzle end of the barrel. The gas tube will come with it.

3. There are 2 types of aluminum free float tubes -- one piece and 2 piece. A 2 piece tube will have a visible seam about 2"-2 1/4" from the aft end. Use a strap wrench to remove the forward tube part of the 2 piece FFT. Then remove the aft (nut) part of the 2 piece FFT using a barrel nut wrench. If your FFT is one piece, use a strap wrench to remove it. Note that some assemblers use locktite when assembling one piece tubes. If that was done with your tube, you will have to gently heat it to 350F to break the grip of the locktite.
