Bushmaster trade for what?

I am thinking about getting rid of my Bushmaster shorty. I guess because I just had my fill of that thing in the Army. Thing is, I don't know what to ask for it. But more importantly, I do not know what pistol I want next!!!

I have been thinking about the Walther...
Or a Glock...
Or a Para...
Or...

See my dilemma?

Depends on a couple things...

Is it Pre or Post ban?
Is the original upper still on it? (are they the same exact color)

You could go to www.ar15.com and see what others are asking for similar ones. Bushmaster is at the top of the "most desirable" list with most who deal with AR's.

If it's post-ban, you'll still be able to afford a new pistol. If it's pre-ban, you might be able to get 2! :)

Thanks onslaught...
Alas, it is post ban. I bought it cause I thought that every gun collection should have one. Plus I could shoot the hell out it in while an infantryman.

It is new. basically. shot once!

Chokeu2...

I have a "Shorty" too. I don't shoot it as much
as my pistols, but if I let it go I would feel a
great loss. Unless you really need to sell it,
I'd keep it simply for the reason that another
Algore might pop up real fast and do something to
make getting a Bushmaster Shorty impossible.
I guess that I don't ever sell ANYTHING. If the
gun is great, I keep it. If the gun is a
lemon...well, I keep that too. I would hate
myself if I secretly traded off a lemon and got a
better gun and later that lemon jammed on an
innocent person and caused them to get shot by a
bad guy. The few lemons I've purchased now reside
in the darkest corner of my gun safe or have been
joyously destroyed by me. There's a lot of
satisfaction to be had simply by putting a lemon
on an anvil and pounding the hell out of it with
a sledge hammer. :) (And then, of course, sending
the remains back to the manufacturer.):p

Did you type it on Notepad???

Ditto, we don't have anything to (hopefully) really worry about for the next 3.5 years, but who knows when the next democrat blunders into the Whitehouse. If Gore had gotten in, chances are you wouldn't be considering selling that Bushmaster. If that's the only centerfire SADM rifle you have, I'd keep it.

But to answer the original post, Glock or Para would both be good choices. A LNIB BM shorty might fetch close to $600. I remember preY2K in 1999, BM shorties were pushing the $1000 mark in many places, especially here in CA. If another "gun" incident occurs like Columbine or Stockton, we might see those high prices again.

Thanks guys. I am not at a loss for a collection. It is a GREAT rifle. I guess I take it for granted after carrying it for so many years in the Army as a grunt...

I just gave thought to getting another handgun because I seem to be shooting (and reloading) them... And I hate to see a good rifle going to waste. But you are right, it does not hurt to have one in the collection. No self respecting collection is complete without it!

That's the spirit, Chokeu2!

You just never know when some crazy, influential person might pop up and get people to start believing in that "evil black rifle" crapola again. Also, it's like you say..."No collection is complete without an AR15". :) However the truth is, I don't think there is such a thing as a complete collection. At least not for me! :)

-Kentucky Rifle, I do not think that truer words have ever been said!

Thanks for helping me out of my moment of weakness...
:D

"Hopefully" is right. GWB has been OK so far, but his father, GHB, was no friend of either gun owners or hunters. One hopes in this case that the apple DOES fall far from the tree.

And I don't have enough fingers (and toes!) to tick off all the times our "friends" in the GOP have stabbed us in the back.

Me, I decided a long time ago, if the gun works, don't sell it or trade it. Period.

Glad to help you out!
I know what it feels like. After you put the M16 down and get on the Freedom Bird, you think "damn, I never want to see one of those things again". However, as time passes things change...what would you want to reach for if you needed a rifle, FAST?
See what comes to mind?
(Also you're never going to forget "those times". For me, it's the "pink mist". You just have to keep telling yourself that, it don't mean nothin')

I'm glad you kept it!

I worry about the "Black Rifle" scare too. I've been tempted to trade my AR M4 several times, but I always changed my mind.

I'm afraid they're going to be legislated away, and you never know when TSMightHTF.

Everyone has a responsibility to own at least one battle rifle and an appropriate amount of ammo. Just my .02 worth.

Herr Walther

Nobody could have said it better than that. Clear thinking on your part. Most firearms are for fun at the range or hunting, a smaller number are for defense of self and family, and a couple are for "just in case"... You never know. As a side note here: Ammoman.com is just great for larger purchases of ammunition.
