Bushmaster shoots left

Tried out my new BM A3 20. accurate, reliable, but shoots left. was able to correct with about 15-20 clicks right. Is this out of spec? I still have 25 clicks right to go before I max it out. I've read others complain of this "problem"?
Seems to be rather minor in my book, just looking for oppinions.

Thanks

Jay

This has been a common complaint about Bushmaster uppers. The front sight base wasn't installed properly. Actually, yours isn't as bad as some I've heard of that wouldn't even zero, but 10 MOA of windage away from mechanical zero seems a tad much to me, assuming you have standard A2 sights. That means you have 10 MOA less windage adjustment on the other side. That's 10" at 100 yards. That may seem minor and you may be able to live with it, but if I were you, I would send it back to Bushmaster. They're aware of this problem, and they'll make it right if you send it back to them. BM A3 20

Do you have a flat-top?

If you have a removable carry handle then it could be mounting slightly off center. Check the under-side of the carry handle for lumps or burrs that might make it sit on the mounting rail at a slight angle.

The problem has to do with how the barrel was turned in. Check over at AR-15.com if you want the whole history of this problem. You can send the rifle back to Bushmaster and they'll correct it although they will tell you that you are still within milspec. It is an annoying problem that has to do with their Quality Control department (otherwise their rifles are great).

Mine wouldn't even zero! But, I sent it back and now it's shooting perfectly. They had to replace the barrel, but they did it free of charge (of course.)

I just got a Bushmaster DCM and its shooting 6" low @ 25 yards! I tried moving the front sight down but its already screwed all the way down. And I have the 1/2 MOA sight so one click would move it 1/8 MOA @ 25 yards correct? So then I would have to click the sight up 48 clicks!? I have no idea what's going on here...

ronin: Do you have the rear sight in the correct position for 25yd. sight-in? I know that's pretty simple, but didn't think it'd hurt to ask.

If you have a flat top, with the screw on carry handle

this is normal.............
This handle and sight assy is for (at best), a couple of hundred yards......( without mucho windage).
The rifle is set up for optics, if you notice the sights, are set up to go only 600 yards, instead of the original 800.

Wow

Mine was almost dead on out of the box. Two clicks on the front sight and it was right on. This was the first time I have heard of an accuracy or sight problem with a BM.

Hope you get it taken care of with no hassles.

I had the exact same problem with my NIB flattop last year. Sent the upper and carry handle right back to BM and they made it right. I'm glad they fixed it, but was pretty disappointed with their QA/QC. That company must be making money hand over fist. They even tack on a surcharge if you use a credit card.

I took another look at my rifle today. It was 14 clicks right, not the 15-20 I originally stated. I'm really not sure that's enough off to go through the hassle of returning the gun, after all I still have 25 clicks of adjustment (right) before I max it out. What are the chances I'll ever need to move the windage 25 stops now that it's zero'd ??

Yes it is a flat-top model with the removable handel. I e-mailed Bushmaster to see what they have to say about it. I think they will say it's well within specs but send it in if I'm real paronoid about it.

HCKJMN,

I know mine was 17 clicks before I sent it in. On it's return, 0 clicks. Returning it worked well for me. Total time in transit & repair was 7-8 days max. This was a bit over a year ago.

WalterGAII: Yeah I have the rear sight in the proper position. I'm gonna go to the range this weekend and try to work it all out.

Thanks
