Bushmaster ejects brass forward

My new pre-ban carbine always ejects brass forward at a 45 degree angle, instead of to the rear. I thought it was an ammo issue, as the Federal XM193 55 grain ball went forward, and Black Hills 50 grain V-Max went out at a 90 degree angle. Today, I shot Winchester Q3131A, which is supposed to be loaded hot. The brass still went forward.

The gun is cycling normally, and I haven't the faintest clue why my brass is going downrange. Is this an issue with the ejector, extractor, the buffer, or an oddball modification by the previous owner?

A1 or A2 type upper?

It's kinda hard to "diagnose" the problem without actually looking at the weapon and checking extractor and ejector marks on the ammo as well as any brass rubbing out of your ejection port. Just try looking for areas of brass buildup on your upper.Having a freind observe you shooting can also help pinpoint where your "problem" is coming from.

My advice?..If it ain't broke, don't fix it! As Sam says.."You have a polite gun".

Tweak posted on the AR list that foreward ejected brass is a sign of overpressure from the gas system

how long is the barrel?
is it roll marked BMP?

Basic configuration:

Bushmaster XM15E2S A1 carbine, caliber 5.56mm NATO.
11.5" bbl, 5.5" flash suppressor
Bushmaster 1:9 twist bbl.

No signs of overpressure on the fired cases.

NOT A PROBLEM.

In HP, we have a real problem when someone's rifle tosses cases at the guy to his right. Curing the problem is called "potty training" the rifle. Since mine was potty trained, my cases make a nice group at 2 o'clock from me. Yours is potty trained already.
