Bushmaster barrel crown

I have a relatively new (500 rounds) Bushmaster .223. On the barrel crown there is what I can best describe as chrome overplating; that is, the chrome plating comes out of the bore and is on the muzzle face. I asked Bushmaster about this and they told me it is normal and that the overplating will disintegrate over time. I am noticing that the chrome is chipping away, close to the muzzle. Am I being sold a bill of goods, or is this normal?

Noban, it may be normal but if your accuracy begins to deteriorate I'd visit my local smith and have it crowned. George

Thanks, George. I talked again with Bushmaster and they advised that I send it in to them for inspection and possible barrel replacement.
