I've got a shorty carbine flattop. Love It! Anybody else have a Bushy and what do you think of them?

I have a Bushmaster 16" Shorty AK and LOVE IT. Over 4000 rounds so far and not a single failure. (if you dont count the time I used a USA Mag)

local store got a bushmaster...i could get it for about $700, but i haven't decided yet

I bought my Bushmaster shorty in '93. Paid $975 + tax for it!!! Absolutely LOVED it! Recently, the flat-top config. caught my eye, so I sold a Springfield M1A I wasn't too happy with and bought a flat-topped upper with 14 1/2" fluted barrel and perm. attached Phantom flash supressor! (plus a couple of other firearms :) )

Then I put an ARMS #38 extended on it for my Tasco PDP5...

The Phantom supressor HONESTLY reduced flash to almost 0! I was extemely impressed.

I absolutely love my Bushy! And YES, you read right... I sold a .308 M1A Battle rifle to doctor up my AR, as well as pick up my Kahr p9, etc.
Sure, .223 may not be the best man-KILLER, but I doubt there's gonna be too much fight after they've been hit! And since I'm not military, that's the purpose, right? Stop the forward aggression? ;)

I have a Bushy 16" shorty and have truly enjpyed it. It is an absolute joy to shoot and the only problems I have had with it were magazine related. I can recommend Bushmasters without reservation!

I hate my Bushmaster 16". It's worse than a wife. It always wants more. More time at the range. More ammo. More mags. More attention. Load me, shoot me, clean me.

Well, the little BM is in for a big surprise! I'm gonna get me a Bushmaster V-Match 20" too. Get in line little one. You want to be the main squeeze, you gotta earn it.

I got the 20" and initially had problems with it. It would extract and eject fine, but wouldn't feed. The bolt didn't come back far enough to pick up another round, so my gsmith honed the inside of the bolt carrier, and now she works fine. I thought of the shorty, but I don't trust them. You can tell a lot about a guy from his cars and his guns. I keep everything original. In this case, I used a 20" in the Army, therefore 20" made more sense to me.
I did get a flat-top upper though. I like that. I want one of those 4X32 ACOG's next. The rifle is far more accurate than I am. Actually, I guess I am now wanting to be able to utilize the accuracy of the rifle to its fullest potential, so I want a decent scope.
My favorite targets are lightbulbs at 75 yards (using a rest, or a stick), and I'd like to move up to rotten fruit at 150 yards. The BM will do that, but my eyes wont. I love them and BM has a fine product.

I started out with a BM shorty 16"...neat gun

BUt soon realized that I felt cramped up on the shorter front handguard...I really like the 16" for urban or suburban threats. 20" is just a bit to unmanuverable. So yesterday I bought a 16" Dissipator. It seems to have addressed the following problems for me.

-Longer handguards for more grip options
-Longer sight radius for more accuracy
-more coverage of a potentially HOT barrel

Down side. Is is not as asthetically pleasing as the Shorty. Its ugly but I cant understand why it will not be better for the reasons above.

I'll probably trade the Shorty in on something else.

Just some thoughts on stuff from a very happy Bushmaster customer. SDnR
