Bushmaster ACR questions

Hi all,

I am considering a Bushmaster ACR. I was wondering what owners of them had to say about them. It looks like the price has come down quite a bit and so it could be an option.

Now as a Jersey resident I would be buying a basic fixed stock , MOE- handguard version And I got quoted about $1,700 ( if anyone knows better plz mention thanks !). What I really want is the SPR version. How does that work , do I buy the PRS-style stock and 18" barrel separately , or is there an actual SPR version for sale ? To be honest I would want both , one of the main reasons for getting the ACR would be for changing from the CQB carbine weapon, with the fixed stock/16.5" bbl to the DMR/SPR rifle with the PRS stock and 18" barrel. And I also wonder, how much you think that barrel and stock will cost in addition ,?

Thanks for the info and help , I'm not dead set on an ACR but intrigued by the versatility and I love Magpul. And I just have a feeling that the ACR is going to wind up being big time and popular in a year or two n

I owned Bushmaster back about 15 years ago. They were a much different company with much better quality rifles. I wouldn't buy a bushmaster today. They are way too picky on ammo. MOST times I see posts and threads about people having ammo issues, the majority of the time I also see comments like: "In my Bushmaster"..... Sorry, but for the $1700 you're willing to spend, you can definitely do better than a bushmaster.

Thanks for your time

Anyone have anything specific about the ACR/ particularly those with ACR experience? Please don't just bash bushmaster , if thats all you have to add just skip this because I can read plenty of anti Bushmaster stuff when Im bored , I'm just interested on the ACR please and thank you

Thanks Viciouskitty.

Here's the links to the review videos. It's in 4 parts.

I have one more installment coming where I will test them in adverse conditions.

I started off favoring the SCAR. I picked up my first ACR about a month after getting my first SCAR (I have two of each rifle). As time goes on and I shoot them more and more side-by-side, I'm starting to favor the ACR.

I view the SCAR more as a no frills military rifle. It's well made, accurate, simple and reliable.

I view the ACR is a more modern rifle with a few extra features. There are things I like and dislike about both. But both have been exceptional rifles in terms of performance.

In the end, when I'm heading out to my property I grab my black ACR first. I really like the rifle.
