Fox News: Bush Campaign Poll Shows California Tied

Polls conducted late last week by the Bush campaign show the Texas governor is more than just competitive in the electoral vote goldmine of California -- he's tied with Vice President Al Gore, who once considered the state a lock.

Fox News Channel's Carl Cameron reported Sunday morning:

"Bush has been supremely confident in the last few days. The campaign actually stopped its internal tracking polling last Thursday in the belief that the race had been cast and that nothing would change in the final few days.

"At that time they were tied in the huge state of California, with the most electoral college votes; up five here in Florida, where Bush will be campaigning for the next day and a half; and behind in Pennsylvania but trending up in his direction.

"Last night Bush actually campaigned in New Jersey -- a Gore stronghold and a Democratic leaning state -- a surprise to many Republicans that the GOP presidential candidate would go there.

"But many think it's a sign of his confidence and that he's trying to help Republican candidates in Congress who he thinks he'll be working with.

"The Bush campaign doesn't think the DWI story hurt them at all. Bush is so confident that he thinks he may actually be making calls to a would-be transition team in a new adminsitration early in the day on Tuesday."

I'm in CA. Sacramento area. We got Gore whupped here, but it is SF and LA we have to worry about. Pray for rain in either city, and Bush has CA. I hope it is over before it gets here. However, I will trade PA for CA on Tuesday.

Thanks for the good news.

Guys, I live in the E. LA county/N Orange Co/E. San Bernardino Co. and I've seen a total of 2 Gore/Lieberman signs and those were in a sea of Bush/Cheny signs. I hate to use buzzwords, but Republicans and those opposed to the Clinton/Gore ways are energized and enthusiastic. I hope I'm not proven wrong.
