Moderators, if this is getting to be too much, feel free to shut it down. Signatures were coming in at 200-300 a day back in July, now they've trickled to about 40 a day. There's about 9700+ on there now. Maybe that's all the gun owners in the country who agree with it. Anyway, just wanted to keep it alive.

Let me suggest that the last thing we should do now is weaken Bush's position with a petition _demanding_ his support on any specific issue. Rather, we should sign a petition demanding he run an effective campaign.

A Gore presidency = gun confiscation.

deanf, come early November it will be sent to Jim Nicholson, the chairman of the RNC. Back when I had ideas of tens of thousands of signatures I figured it wouldn't be advisable to have it delivered right before the election. Now it appears that there may be 10,000 or 11,000 signatures. Not exactly a Million Moron March, but maybe somebody will take note.

The petition I wrote was in part a reaction to the frustration that so many on TFL have.
We're all constantly trying to come up with an idea that will grab hold, get gun owners attention and thus the attention of our elected representatives. It would appear that any such "magical" solution would be as valuable and likewise elusive as a cure for cancer.

So, we keep trying with calls and letters. And, for some, PVC tubes.
