Bush/Cheney vs Gore/Liberman bumper stickers.

I must say -- that even in the liberal center of Georgia (Atlanta) I cound more Bush/Cheney bumper stickers than ever before. It seems that with each passing day I spot more and more and more. At to top it all off, I have only seen ONE Gore/Liberman bumper sticker to date. And its not like I'm not seein' them because when you sit in traffic all damn evening you have plenty of time to look at the backside of everyone's car! :D

What have your observations been?

Around NE Ohio (a swing state) my personal and unscientific survey has Bush yard signs outnumbering Gore signs 5 to 1. Among bumper stickers, Bush outnumbers Gore 3 to 1.

Doesn't mean anything, but it's fun to wonder what it all means. :)

Same here in New Mexico: Bush stickers on lots of cars, Bush yard signs ("Viva Bush") even in liberal Santa Fe, but I honest-to-god haven't seen a single Gore sticker. Some Naders and a few Buchanans, not one Gore.

Here in Madison, WI at the UW campus, I see about 60% Nader stickers, 30% Gore, and maybe 10% Bush...

scary... But WI is a swing state, and Madison always influences WI politics... In the short term, it's helping Bush to have the left divided, but in the long run, it's frightening that there's that much socialist sentiment out there....

Try living in the liberal scum-sucking hell that is Washington, DC, and its suburbs, Gentlemen...

I'd say it's split pretty evenly on the yard signs, Gore has a slight lead in bumper stickers.

A friend's "Republicans for office" yard signs, along with those of his neighbors, were stolen in Arlington the other week.

I need to get my yard signs out.

I've also seen a few Buchannan signs up at intersections...

My all-time FAVORITE presidential bumperstickers? (They're a little raw...)

1984, Mondale-Ferraro...

"Vote for Fritz & Tits"

And, a few weeks later...

"I'm for Wally & the Beaver"

(And as God is my witness, I am NOT making those up.)

Thats why I didn't want to go to UW Mad-town. Liberals just love that place. Madison and Milwaukee always vote liberal, and the rest of the state always votes conservative, and since madtown and milwaukee are the big population centers it makes for a tough race. Any other state want to annex Madison? I'll give it to ya real cheap :-)

Here in the Sacramento area of Kalifornia I've given away 35-40 bumper stickers and about 20 yard signs. I see 6 or so Bush/Cheney everyday. I haven't seen a single Gore yard sign, bumper sticker, or ad.

We are sneaking up on them so much so, the Dems are begging Clinton to come out and for Gore to spend money. We are just about to the margin of error and if turnout is at a record low in LA or San Fran - and some are predicting record low turnout in CA, then Bush just may win. Slim, but more of a chance than before.

Ok, in my college dorm, full of flaming liberals, the Bush stickers/posters on doors far outnumber the Gore supports. I just want to know where the traditional media is getting their poll numbers from.

As for Madison: I love the city, I hate a lot of the people in it... oh well.. That's what I get for reading Ayn Rand, I suppose..

Anyway, back to the topic: One thing I've noticed here is that Gore voters usually don't feel they need to express their alliance. That's the default.

The mentality seems to be that those who are brave vote for Nader, everyone else votes for Gore, except the clinically insane, who vote for Bush.

So, those of us who do vote for Bush tend to be more vocal (or clam up entirely and suffocate in liberalism) about it, sicne we're the ones who feel that we actually have something at stake.

I certainly hope you're right that Bush is creaping up and will win, but I fear these informal sticker counts aren't all that great of a representation.

*sigh*, well maybe we'll see a Libertarian president before I die in some 60 years.. or, as they say, we'll be too busy reloading.

Mike Erwin, try driving along Rt. 7 out past the intersection with I-267 sometime. There's Bush lawn signs all over the median strip despite that being (I believe) government property. I have no idea who puts them up (the developers?) or who allows them to stay (the state police? county government?) but when someone put up a Nader sign it disappeared after one day. There's one Buchanon sign that seems to have stayed for awile. Of course, I suspect the vast majority of the people who live out there support Bush. (I have a friend who lives and works in Sterling. That's the only reason I ever go to suburban h*ll.)

Around Baltimore (a heavily Democratic city) I've noticed about half Bush and half Gore stickers. The number of Nader stickers has been growing but isn't that large. Overall, the city's been totally dead this election season. Most neighborhoods have no lawn signs at all (including historically activist ones like Charles Village). I don't know a single person who is excited about the prospect of a Gore presidency. Of course, I also don't know anyone who is _excited_ about a Bush presidency but they do seem a little more committed to the campaign.

If you based your assumptions on stickers around my college you'd think Nader was sweeping the race. It's amazing what a difference small group of people passing out stickers makes. Too bad for Gore and Bush nobody on the campus actually _believes in_ either of them. ;) (For the record, however, I'd guess that the school is going to go about 50% Gore, 40% Bush, and 10% Nader (that's only because of the active Nader campaign). Of course, only about 10% of the stupid student body will bother to vote so....)

I've talked to people who are supporting Browne but I've never seen a sign or sticker for him. I wish they would get their act together so then we'd have someone intelligent to debate against instead of the followers of the two-headed corporate beast.

bumper sticker count is only good for feeling intensity (sp). GOP has that more than the Dems.

Check out my post about Gun Control Hurting Dems and some poll numbers. One poll has Bush up 10, the rest 4-6.

I'll take that with the fact that we are the motivated side.

Vote. and Vote Bush - we need those SC judges.

I have travelled Oregon and Washington extensively the last couple months and Bush signs are all over the place. I'd conseratively estimate 10:1 in favor of Bush. The I-5 corridor is plastered with Bush signs which is awesome because the west side of both states is liberal territory. Keep working hard everyone. Maybe, just maybe, help is on the way.

In NY City:
I see no Bush or Gore paraphernalia but I am starting to see Nader Buttons and signs. Lazio posters on paths to the metro up one day down the next. Nader posters on the paths to the metro stayed up untill weather beaten.

In NY State:
I haven't been I n a car in three weeks but prior to that I was on the road each weekend driving the length of the state top to bottom, NYC to Plattsburgh or, NYC to Syracuse. I have seen only 1 bumper sticker and that was for Bush.

Again three weeks ago:
Most of the yard signs I have seen are republican. I have seen dozens of Lazio signs and only two Hillary signs one of those was taken down by the person who put it up. The sign was inside in a window in the living quarters of the house viewable to the street, two weeks later it was gone.

At the county fairs we did the republican booths were well manned. The democrats were poorly manned and maintained. Whenever an anti gun candidate (REP or DEM) manned the booth they were inundated with pointed questions on controversial issues and often embarrassed into leaving.

Here in the mostly Democratic state of Minnesota I have not seen one Gore yard sign and have seen lots of Bush signs.

Only saw one Gore bumper sticker and see Bush bumper stickers every day on cars on the way to and from work. Of course one of those cars with the Bush sticker is MINE!

In fact I would incourage everone who supports Bush to go to his web site at www.bush2000.com and go to he download area and print out one of his logos on a color printer and then cut it out and tape it inside your car window. It looks just like a bumper sticker.

You have to realize that bumper stickers and yard signs are VERY important. There's a sizable number of folks who vote according to what is called the "bandwagon" effect. If a candidate is perceived as being ahead, they'll vote for 'em. Kinda stupid, but hey, people are stupid.

The Republican HQ in Houston TX is at 6101 Southwest Freeway. I'm going to pick up some yard signs and bumper stickers today. I hope they sell T-Shirts, as I will be running the NYC marathon 2 days before the election and will wear a Bush/Cheney T-Shirt. I would also urge any of you to post signs at your range to increase gun owner participation on November 7.

Folk,

I drive Route 7 every couple of days, and am all over the Northern Virginia area on the weekends.

It's averaging out about even on the yard signs. I am seen more Allen signs, though.

BTW, it's Irwin with an I, not an E.

Who allows the political signs to remain? The same people who allow the realtor signs to remain....

MIKE IRWIN---think thats funny.I saw a sticker that said 'death is no exscuse
Nixon in 2000'.

Here in memphis,TN the Bush stickers way out number the Gore bumper stickers but their are still way too many yard signs and
posters. They put a couple poster over one walkway over the highway. My work is a mile from the repulican headquarters so I help spread the sticker and we LOVE our
'Dont get gored in 2000' stickers that is one of the few our gunstores and ranges have ever bothered to distribute.
OH and Ive ordered the 'gorefreetennesee' stickers LOL>.

FOLKBABE--(babe? hmmm) we have a similar situation here several large yard sign Bush stikcers I later found out that this area was the site for the repulican headquarters.

Abe and Andy, I feel your pain. Here on the "soutside" of Milwaukee, there's Gore signs everywhere. And Kohl. And Kleczka. And just about every one of the homeowners is either a city worker or union member, or both. "Da union boss told me ta vote for Gore." Can't tell you how many times I've heard that.

It's great that in some areas there are more Bush/Cheney stickers than in others. Just remember to vote, tell people to vote, and if necessary drive pro-Bush voters to polls and back. There's no worse time to get complacent than now.
