Bush bashing from Google.com ?

This made it onto Fox about a week ago. It's called GoogleBombing. A couple of years ago some blogger encouraged webmasters to link the word and name on their sites. Enough did to raise the name, Bush, to the top of the search list for "failure"

Saw this months ago. People have been doing this for a while. Probably 5 - 7 years ago if you typed into Microsoft Word a derogitory statement about Bill Gates (I forget the exact wording) the spell/grammar checker would ask if you'd like to change that to "I'll drink to that!"

Google hits are not sponsored; they can be influenced by users but not advertising money. Despite this, it's still the best search engine out there. As to the results in this case being accurate...differences of opinion are nice, ain't they? :D

I don't understand blind support for anything. I'm a conservative, always have been, don't like Bush though because I have a few ounces of common sense left. It's ok to be a republican and not like all republicans in the world, really, it's ok...

:barf:

Yahoo is just as good or better. Differences of opinion are nice. :p

As far as a search engine, I'd agree that Yahoo is fair competition though Google's PageRank is still one of the most concise and efficient search engine algorithms I've ever seen.

Googlebombing

Try the epithet "assh--e" on Google. There is a whole Pete Seegerish folk song overlaid on a Bush picture slideshow. I suppose this makes someone feel that they've really accomplished some sort of coup.

To me its just more lefty looney harrassment of Dubyah, of a kind that would have had the same loonies screaming bloody murder if the target was Kerry or Clinton (either one) and shows just how stupid and mean-spirited these people can be.

This kind of thing is just another Koolaide festival, plays well amongst themselves, but impresses no one outside their "in" crowd. Tasteless. moronic, counterproductive, etc. but the good side is that having some of them spending effort on this kind of thing means that they aren't out actually working to elect any of their own ilk.

Just the kind of mass mental masturbation the world needs to encourage, so these nits will spend all their time on Mommie's computer giggling about having struck another blow for the good of all mankind. Jackasses.

HAHAHA

I always tell myself that there's probably an equal amount of idiots on either side of the conservative/liberal line. The liberals are just better about vocalizing.

BTW, at this point in life, I am not claiming either one.

CyberSEAL, I know what you mean. I'm a conservative too, but I disagree with a few policies of this administration. First, they should pressure congress to lower feds spending. Nowdays, it's crucial to inject money in the different branches of the military and Homeland Security, but they've got to cut spending down further.
Border protection is a big federal failure. This administration is screwing up big time here.
"Guest Worker" visa is BS. You just can't promise everyone entering illegally the country they'll be given a temporary residency and working permit. This would sky-rocket the flow of illegal immigrants. They should do like any other visa. People apply in their own country at the US embassy/consulate, provide paperwork, ID, background checks, etc... Then they obtain a visa. I know what I'm talking about. I'm moved from europe 8 years ago, doing it the right way.

In any case, I sincerely think that Bush is a good man with good intention. The bashing just shows how childish and stupid some people can be. If you think about it, it's the first time in US history a president is blamed for natural disasters. This never happened in the past, even with some more devastating events. I just wish people stop and start thinking before attacking someone personally.

I highly doubt anyone, except in jest, has come close to blaming Bush for a natural disaster. Unless of course you're referring to a bunch of nutjob conspiracy theorists. No one's blamed Bush for Katrina, only for how the aftermath was handled.

So let me re-phrase. Bush is the first president ever blamed for the poor evacuation plans and relief efforts of Katrina.

The US president is not responsible for directly handling natural disasters. The first persons responsible are the mayors and governors. Then, the feds step in to provide resources at the governor's request. It always has been this way. The feds cannot take control of local evacuations. As a matter of fact, it's illegal to deploy federal troops without the formal request from a governor who must first declare a state of emergnecy in his/her state and requests specific federal resources. Local and state officials must define and implement evacuation plans in case of natural disasters. This is the reason why they were elected and they are paid. We paid state and local taxes for them to allocate local and state resources and to handle emergency situations. And we want to keep it this way. You don't want to have the feds taking charge of local emergency and law enforcement.

nono, don't get me wrong....I don't blame bushie for mishandling the disaster (although his insistence that brown was doing a marvelous job was kinda....a big smelly pile, in my opinion)

I realize that the people to blame are the local officials, I'm just saying that people are blaming Bush for not having the country prepared. Since 9/11 there's been this claim that the Department of Homeland Security has been making us safer and better prepared to handle tragic situations. Even though this was a natural disaster, the appearance that the federal government hadn't put enough pressure to make sure that things were done right is the main cause of concern for many.

It makes one wonder about the government's (local, state, and federal) ability to properly handle a massive terrorist attack.

We all know, or should know, that no matter who's in office, what party has the majority in congress, you cannot rely on governments, bureaucrats and administrations for your safety. For a lot of other things as well. Like I said, I did live in europe where governments try to control everything and fail miserably. Is it because they're incompetent? Even though, I don't think that the main problem. In my opinion, bureaucracies simply cannot handle all our problems. I'm not surprised about the screw up of FEMA (they did screw up, but they're not the ones responsible for the mess in NO). Now, local and state officials are supposed to do a lot more than the feds, because they're local.

Googlebombing the White House

For the liberals, a new theme song.
For the conservatives, a new cause for fury.
For the rest of us, andother reason to hope that global warming somehow will raise the level in the gene pool

This is the result of a google search on a popular epithet:

http://filmstripinternational.com/

Just charming. If you could just get one like it made for Hillary, or maybe Governor Blank-O :barf:

GoogleBombing

Rich,

Studied for a while trying to figure out that OIG thing......

Initials of my nickname, of course. Good thing I didn't pick Fowler-Upper for a nickname, I'd be insulted all the time 'round here...... :D

Apologies to Oscar Madison in the Odd Couple, of course; the monolog on Felix's notes to him was classic :D

which reminds me, why hasn't rove been executed for treason?
Because, he did nothing wrong?

Oh, I forgot, the left believes any accusation against Bush and his administration, the accusation alone is proof enough.

Doesn't work the other way though, go figure. Even with iron clad evidence, like Kerry not being in Cambodia in Christmas 1968, it's the accusers who are wrong and evil.

And the left wonders why they lost power.
