"I am beginning to think that not only did he invent the internet, but he invented the calculator"
George W Bush on the Oct 3rd Debate with Al Bore

GW kicked ass. Even the liberal pundits (Andrea Mitchell, Jonathan Alter, etc.) looked stunned. I think this election is over.

In the first debate Gore was an a-hole and the pole results were statically even. This debate Gore was way toned down (in fact almost lifelike) and he got his butt kicked. Look for Gore to revert back to a-hole mode from here out.

Maybe it's my own personal pet peeve but Gore did it again.... at the end of the debate he did not say "Thank You" to Bush or Lehrer, or acknowledge them in any way. Bush however said thanks to Lehrer, Gore, and the audience. I guess Gore just expects everyone to kiss his ring and say "Thank You" to him. He's above showing common curiosity to us mere humans. -- Kernel

Gore reminds me a lot of many of the yuppie psuedo-liberals out here in the silicon valley, cow-tauing to the fashionable politically correct views. He got "in trouble" for being a condescending ahole, and poorly concealed his new cival side tonight. He's a fence sitter, and what scares me is that I believe at least 70% of our population is the same way. He will get a lot of votes from a s**tload of people that don't think for themselves and are socially embarrased to admit that they voted outside of the socially acceptable "liberal" vein.

Tipper in the white house scares me even more...I'm a musician, and I still have a bad taste in my mouth over her frantic censorship fight a few years ago.

The photo ID gun licensing idea sent a really bad shiver down my spine.

I thought it was funny how Gore re-invented himself once again, and from the looks of things lost the debate again. Now what can we expect to see? My guess is an all-out assault on Bush, but not from Gore himself...it's already starting with ridiculous TV scare ads.

Yeah, Gore is not for registration! ScreamingMAO!!!

Sub

Sub,

In fairness to Gore, he's _said_ he's not in favor of gun registration, just licensing for purchasing. It's something he used to distinguish himself from Bill Bradley in the fall.

Now, obviously licensing won't be long around without registration, I'm just saying that Gore's not being inconsistent as far as what he claims he's said.

Tipper Gore is pretty scary. I'll never forget her going after Twisted Sister and blaming society's ills on that joke of a band. Her witch hunt for censorship made Nancy Reagan's "Just Say No" look admirable, and for a wannabe hippie, her fascist tactics were reminiscent of Nazi Germany book burnings.

There was a movie that came out a while ago about some guy who recorded thousands of hours of live satellite feeds and condensed it to all these moments where celebrities, presidents, ect. were caught off guard. The end of the movie was Tipper Gore staring into the camera like the drooling goon that she is, until she asks, "Are we on", to which the camera man says yes, and she snaps into this plastic smile that is gauranteed to make you throw up.

"I know about fighting for gun control. I cast the tie-breaking vote to take on the NRA and close the gun show loophole. It took a hard fight to pass the Brady bill and make it the Brady law to establish the 3-day waiting period. I want to go farther and completely ban Saturday night specials and junk guns and assault weapons and have what’s called super tracing so that when a gun is used in any kind of crime it can be immediately traced."

Source: Democratic Debate in Durham, NH Jan 5, 2000

From the "Generation A" site :"While protecting the rights of law abiding gun owners, Gore would seek ...Require gun manufacturers and federally-licensed sellers to report gun sales to a state authority. This requirement would assist law enforcement in tracing ownership of guns if they are used in a crime."

The fact is, Gore IS in favor of gun registration; He just won't CALL it "gun registration", he calls it "super tracing", but it's the same thing: The government would maintain a list of who owns what guns.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the Brady Bill a 5 day waiting period not a 3 day waiting period like Gore said it was.

I remenber when it took affect because it was the same 5 day waiting period that my state all ready had so it was no big deal.

I wish Bush would have corrected Gore on this to him in his place.

I think Lehrer _almost_ got Gore to admit that his phony "licensing" scheme is just a Politically Correct term for gun registration, by asking those follow-up questions. Bush should've been asking those questions.
Gore wants states to issue the "licenses" so he can cover Washington's butt--saying it was the states that did it (after the fact). But the Feds would be _requiring_ states to issue. (If I understand this...who knows if they understand Gore? He changes constantly...)

Any way you look at it, it creates a database of licensed gun owners. Another step toward confiscation.

And what was up with this part of Gores answer

"In my faith tradition, it is written — it's written in the book of Matthew, "Where your heart is, there is your treasure also." "

Faith tradition??? He can't just come out and say religion? What kind of PC nonesense is that?

Actually if you wanted to be picky about what Al says.... He was trying to quote Matthew 6:21 "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

He said "Where your heart is, there is your treasure also."

But hey... he at least got some of the word right even though they were in a total different order.

He should really quit trying to show his Bible expertise. Like his favorite verse being "John 16:3" "They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me"

A little bit of irony...

Later, Larz

Oopps. I don't think there is a source for the John 16:3 thing. So I guess it isn't true. But the first quote was verbatim from the debate.

Can we make sure only Internet Users vote??

madison46

ps. Just to throw some cold water...

*Hillary is leading in NY
*This country re-Elected Clinton
*DC re-Elected Mayor Marion Barry AFTER he was convicted
*Gore will get votes into the 40%+ range even if he looses. That is scary. Too close for me.

hummmm..........
