Bump Fire Legality

Probably a stupid question but is bump firing legal?
From what I understand they made the ring and string F/A trick illegal but what about just bump firing?
What about with the assisting of a rubber band like some do?

I've heard mixed answers on it and my searches found nothing.

Also not sure if this belongs in the NFA section. Figured it might b/c of the F/A.

Is pulling the trigger really fast illegal?

Adding parts such as strings and rubber bands is a whole separate issue from the method you use to pull the trigger.

And what he means by that is that bumpfiring by itself is legal. If you add a device like string or rubber band it *may be* illegal. If you use a Tac Trigger or other device it *is at this time* legal. Who knows what tomorrow may bring.

The string and loop is illegal because it pulls the trigger for you.

The rubberband method I have seen actully resets the trigger for you, so for that I would say probably not.

Also many ranges will not allow " bump fire" because the bullets are unaimed. I said many, perhaps not all.
