Bump Buster or GraCoil?

I want to have a recoil reduction system put on my Browning O/U.

It is between the GraCoil (spring system) by Gaoco Corp. & the Bump-Buster (hydraulic system) by Ken Rucker.

Both have 1" LOP adjustableity.

Do you have one of these on your gun & what can you tell me?

I responsded to your question on the Cynergy below as well ...so I won't duplicate it ...

I have a GraCoil on my Trap gun ( Citori XT with 32" barrels ) - and I've had hydraulic systems ( not Ruckers ) on 2 of my Skeet, Sporting and Hunting O/U's but I thought they delayed the 2nd shot while the system recovered - and I didn't like it / so I re-stocked those guns and started over....and returned them to standard recoil pads.

The GraCoil doesn't bother me on Trap / because there is less left to right barrel movement on the 2nd shots ... but I couldn't get used to it for Sporting, Skeet or for hunting ...

I know this is a new gun to you / but unless you have a lot of experience with GraCoil or the Ruckers systems - I would hold off on any system like that for a year or more.

Like Jim said - hold off for a bit. FIRST - make sure the gun FITS. It might be close, then again, it might not be.

A good fitting by a qualified fitter will give you the exact dimensions YOU need to make the gun like an extension of yourself. If a gun doesn't fit, recoil will always seem harsh, no matter the recoil system employed.

Another modification to be investigated (assuming after a fitting it is still necessary) is:

Keep a few things in mind....

Sig-9,
Good advice all around....shoot the gun for awhile and make sure of the fit. Once you install a recoil system, there are adjustments that will be more difficult to achieve after a system has been installed.

My biggest complaint with most recoil reduction systems is that the add too much wieght to the gun, often[ as in the case of the 2 you mention] to the extreme end of the gun. Checking SpeedBumps website[ nice Blog!] , his system adds 12 oz, and I believe the Gracoil adds more than that! The will effect the balance of the gun greatly, and most likely in a very negative fashion:rolleyes:

If you are open to other options for this kind of system, google "ISIS Recoil Reduction". If I were to use a system like this, it would be my choice as it is by far the lightest by far. Mike Sherman of PMS firearms ....http://www.pmsfirearms.com/.....does a great job of installing this system.

I have many students using this system, and they are happy with them.

Darn!! If I hadn't put the Gracoil on my gun I might have shot 102 out of a 100. But then again all the other shooters using Gracoils, Rads and Bumpbusters would have thought of it also.
