Has Anyone ever checked the bullet velocity from these two guns with the same ammo? 16in AR and and the Mini-14 I'm curious about the velocity/Power difference only. I'm fully aware of all the other differences.Eventually I'm gonna get an AR Probable with a 20in barrel. Anyone have experience?

Isnt it something like 20fps each inch below 24? And 50fps each inch below 24 for magnum cartridges. As a rule, I believe that is what I read in one of the reloading manuals, but it is probably for bolt guns, dont know how much gas system will effect it.

I was always afraid to try to chrony any rounds out of my Mini. I was afraid that I'd hit the chrony. Don't have that problem with my Bush Shorty.

The velocity difference won't be much, but the accuracy difference will be a bunch.

Walter, now watch it! If you bad mouth the Mini, your gonna get a LOT of hate mail. Believe me! Been there, done that, and fully agree with you!

The velocity difference between the Bushy 16" and the Mini 18" will be approx. 50fps. Not even worth worrying about!

Regards! DaMan

DaMan,
Walter is one of those guys that swarms around Mini Questions like a Buzzard just so he can bad mouth them.
Walter,
How is the accuracy of your 16in Ar vs. the 20in ones?

I rarely respond to Mini questions anymore. Best lessons are learned by experience. I'm happy for anybody to experience the joys of Minihood.

As far as the accuracy of my Shorty, it's pretty good. I don't see much difference in accuracy at 100 yds, but don't do much shooting with the Shorty beyond that range. I've never seen a 20" AR outshoot my Shorty at our local range, but then there aren't a lot of AR's out at our local range. I can shoot 1/2" groups with handloads and Bergers. 1" groups are a gimme.

Of course, I free-floated the barrel and installed a JP hammer/trigger combo. Have a pull of about 2.5#, with no creep or overtravel. Use a 6-20X44mm scope. (Also have a red-dot mounted, but that's not for accuracy)
