Bullet Size

I am about to reloading my old Mosin Nagant, will I be OK with .311 (.303) bullets that I use with my No4, and also, use .308s in my schmidt Ruben 7.5 x 55.

Mosins are .311 if i remember right. I have heard of people using .308 in mosins, but with poor results.

7.62x54R is .30 caliber, and the NOMINAL bore size calls for the use of .311-.312" bullets.

HOWEVER, each individual rifle barrel may vary from the spec value (sometimes a lot) so sometimes .308 bullets work well and sometimes, they don't.

Get your rifle's bore slugged, to see what you actually have, not what the book says it ought to be. Then you'll have a good basis to choose which size bullets should be used.
