How far into the case is too far into i just got some super long bullets for my 280 can they be into the body of the case...i have a magazine....not a bolt action hence the issue

I'd get a manual published by the bullet maker and use they OAL they specify for that particular bullet. Or email the maker for specific info. Use that info and check to see how they fit the magazine...

Since you are going to start at the low end and work up you will be ok. PS Bolts have magazines too and the best COL to use is the one that feeds from your magazine.

Yes, you can shoot it. You just need to reduce the charge. Figure out how much further it sticks into the neck than you have data for. This will be the difference in seating depth. Calculate the extra volume in cubic inches that it is subtracting from the powder space under it. Multiply the result by 135 and you will have the number of grains to adjust the minimum load by. Work up from there.

Seating Depth = Case Length + Bullet Length - Cartridge Overall Length

Volume in cubic inches of the missing space is pi times the square of half the bullet diameter times the extra seating depth.

V = π × r² × ΔSD

Now the other question is, given that this bullet is extra long, have you checked that your rifling twist rate will still stabilize it? Length, not weight, has the most effect on stability. There is a stability calculator here.
