Bullet Feeder Question,

I've built my own PISTOL bullet sorter/columators,
But I haven't had much luck with building RIFLE bullet feeders...

I'm wondering how the different feeder dies work for those that have them?
RCBS looks dirt simple and isn't specific to bullet weight,

Hornady feeder die looks like there is a lot going on there, but doesn't show different die parts for different weight bullets,

There are several on the market, anyone have experence with more than one?

Any input would be appreciated.

I've made PISTOL bullet columators out of a couple different things,
6" & 8" PVC pipe is my favorite, HDPE for plates, and EBay gear motors.
$30 or $35 bucks, I can afford one for common pistol bullet calibers without changing plates and trying to re-adjust flippers.

I'm having no luck coming up with a working rifle bullet columators.
At $500 for a Mr. Bullet Feeder, there has to be a better way...

I can't seem to get boat tails to feed worth a damn...

That's what I made mine from PVC and plastic.

Your flipper has to have enough of a "shelf" so the larger diameter of the base won't fall down, rather ride over.

The smaller diameter of the tip should fall though and then be drawn outward before being flipped back up.

For rifle bullets that are longer you need a thicker disk and a thinner/deeper flipper.

I would like to see more of that rifle bullet flipper,
I've seen your work before, and its top notch!

The problem I have is living out in the boonies, so few people there aren't any clubs or groups that I can trade ideas with.
I'm stuck with 'You Tube' videos or pictures from other reloaders on the forums...

If its OK with you, I'd like to see that rifle bullet disk from the top,
And have a look at how your flipper insert works in relationship to the bullet/disk.

I'm looking for the pictures I took when I was building the pistol bullet versions.

Honestly, I think I just identified my mistake with .223 on that first video...
My plate isn't thick enough and my nose/flip ramp is too far 'In',
The boat tail fell into the flip ramp...

OK, looks like I have a vacation project, my vacation started this evening,
I stopped at the local gun shop on the way home and got 5,000 small rifle primers & 5,000 small pistol primers, along with some new small primer tubes for my Dillon.
I have fishing & reloading planned for my 'Stay-cation' this year.
I'm happiest tinkering in my shop and trying to drown bait in the lake or down at the river! Go figure a farm kid would like messing around the homestead instead of going somewhere exotic...

Yep, as I said above the wheel needs to be quite a bit thicker so the tall skinny bullet stands straight up, if it can tilt your results won't be what you want.

Post some photos once you get it going.
