Bullet Diameters?

Does anyone have a chart that shows the actual bullet diameter of commonly used handgun calibers? 9mm, 10mm, .38spcl, .357 mag, etc. I think I read somewhere that the .38spcl was not .38 inches in diameter(.35 or.36) which allows it to be fired from a .357. I would be interested to know what the 10mm diam. is as well. Don't go out of your way or anything, but if someone has this info laying around I think people would be interested in it.

All of these dimensions are nominal. That means that you will find minor variations --- .001 here, -.001 there...

9mm = .356

9mm Makarov = .363

.38 Special. = .357

.357 Magnum = .357

10mm = .401

Sites that sell bullets will usually list the exact diameter of the bullet as well as list the common associated calibers.

One thing worth remembering is that lead (or plated lead) bullets will often be a thousandth larger in diameter than jacketed bullets in the same caliber.

.44 Special = .44 Mag = .429" jacketed or .430" cast lead (Surprise, the .44 is really a .43 caliber.)
