New here so be gentle..please. Read all the bulldog threads posted. I picked one up for $100. number 264xxx, wood grips, no ejector rod shroud. The cylinder hadda lil play in it, but i shot it none the less, im a big guy, and the lil booger was quite a wrist rocker. Right now it's my concealy till i get my 1911 done. I have the 3" model. I shoot most of my firearms for leisure banging away between 100-500 rnds every 2 weeks. Brainfart..I'd rather fire off 200 rnds as fast as i can reload and pull the trigger on this 44 bulldog spl, than do the same with a 45-70. Crud. Ok, any new insights to the bulldog 44spl? or did i waste $100?

Nah you didn't waste 100 bucks. I would've tried to talk him down to 50 or 75 but it could always be sold for 100.

Bulldogs are guns to be carried much and shot little. Shoot 3 or 4 cylinderfuls through it at the range to see pretty much where it prints etc., and carry it.

Keep an eye on the pins at the range, they like to walk under recoil.

I agree with everyone.

The one I own now is the second.
I started out picking up a used blue and shot a little over 500 rounds through it to get used to the little bugger. I hated the wooden grips and put a set of Pachmiers on mine and it makes a world of difference.
It rattled when it got it and still ratteled when I sold it, I had no history on that one so I dont know how many rounds had been put though it before I started. But a lot of the blueing was worn off so your guess is as good as mine.
The one I have now is a stanless shroud less with the spurred hammer.
I shot it enough to get comfortable with it and now only shoot it enought to keep my ability up.
I have had it now for about 12 years and its still my #1 carry gun. I have a safe full to choose from but bang for the size there are very few guns like it.
Granted it dosent carry 37 rounds but you dont need a lot of 240 gran bullets at 900 FPS to change a criminal into a, a, a, well you know.

I just bought a charter arms bulldog
for 150 bucks.It's a original,very
tight and close to 95% blueing. It
has pacmayr's on it,now i can't wait
to get it to the range.

One of the new charter .44's in stainless would be a great gun IMO, gets a lotta good reviews too from what I've seen. Keep the power level down though. I cant' touch em for less than 280 around here though
