bull barrell for ruger super redhawk

Hello,

I just purchased purchased a ruger super redhawk in 44 magnum. Could anyone tell me the advantages and disadvantages of the bull barrell and if possible companys that sell them? Thanks

Gun already heavy enough; expensive bull barrel will offer no performance advantadge.

Magna-Port, Weigand, Stroh, Ten-Ring, Bowen, Reeder, AP&W.....

I don't know if there is a universally accepted definition of a bull barrel. But my definition is a heavy, thick walled barrel with no taper. So the SRH already has a bull barrel.

According to Ruger, the barrel on there is, indeed, a bull barrel. If you compare it to the barrel on the Redhawk, you'll see a distinct difference in barrel outer diameters.

The factory barrel on my 7.5" SRH .44 has sufficient proportions to qualify as a bull barrel. Heck, any additional overall gun weight would be unwelcome by me.

Why the interest in a bull barrel?
