bulk ammo

I recently bought a Ruger New Vaquero in .45 Colt that I had been drooling over for months. I'm having some mild buyer's remorse (although I'm still in love with the revolver itself) after looking far and wide for reasonably priced ammunition and coming up short.
I was warned about .45 Colt ammo prices, but didn't heed. I figured "it can't be that bad" Boy was I wrong.
I've decided to invest in a single stage press reloading setup, but that's a few months down the road. In the mean time, does anyone have any reccomendations for websites where I could pinch pennies by buying factory ammunition in bulk? (I've done a little research, but haven't found much out there, or at least, haven't found much savings)
Thanks for your help!

I don't know what you consider "reasonably priced" but one of the Admins on THR suggested Georgia Arms. They sell .45LC for less than 50 cents per round in bulk. They have a very good reputation.

I too own a Vaquero in 45LC. You are correct; as far as I know there is no such place to buy cheap bulk ammo for this cartridge. Ammo for 45LC is alway expensive.
I have been reloading the 45LC for years and agree with your decision to invest in some reloading equipment. If you shoot a lot, you will quickly pay for your reloading equipment by your savings over purchasing factory ammo.

All I Have To Say Is...

If you consider 50 cents per round "pricey" (and it is)... then you'd better get into reloading if you want to play with the "big boys". That's the lesson "I" learned over the last few months.

I have never shot factory ammo thru my Blackhawk 45. The price for the "cheap stuff" just floors me, let alone any SD loads.
Trust us, you will love reloading the 45 Colt. It is easy and the ammo you can produce is realatively inexpensive. The cases last through many reloadings, especially "cowboy loadings". And, the SD loadings available are about as good as it gets.

No, cheap ammo for the 45 Colt ain't to be found. Get that single stage press and get busy. Georgia arms some good some bad. Unless they have really got better I wouldn't touch them. To many light loads and strange sounding loads. Just my opinion.

If Georgia Arms is the same ammo maker that sells "canned heat", I disagree. Some years back I bought 500 38spcl. and 500 .357's and had no problems at all.
