Building on a Mauser Action

Hi All,
I'm building my first custom on a K-98 action and would like to look at as many sources for barrels and stocks as I can before I order. Would you please share phone numbers or web sites with me if you know of sources? Advice is welcome as well from you folks that care to offer any.
Thanks,
Dave

Depends what you want to build, hunting/shooting or benchrest. Midway sells Adams & Bennett barrels short chambered for under a 100 bucks. The bore seems a little rough on some and may foul, but they can be polished before installation. A friend installed one on a Muaser action and reamed to a 243 AI that is shooting 60 gr? HP under 1 MOA (more like 1/2 MOA @ 100 yards). From what I have seen, they make good barrels for a hunting and/or shooting rifle. If you want benchrest accuracy, pay for it and go with a select grade from one of the well know makers (Shilen, Hart, Lilji, Pac-nor, Douglas. For info on any of the above, do a search and you should find plenty of info.

parts for a rebuild project

Want names/addresses of barrel, trigger, stock, etc. manufacturers, and gunsmiths to help with the tricky parts? I can't suggest any place better than SST's Rifle Room for a complete listing. Don't have a URL, but a search should turn it up. Take the time and $$$ to do it right, or the result will be a waste of time and money. Good luck, enjoy the project.

Sporterizing the Mauser

Find the May, 2000 issue of Guns and Ammo in your library and an article by Larry Lyons in the Gunsmithing section on rebarreling the Mauser. This may be the first of a series on your project. Good luck on your project.
