Building an AR

I am thinking of building an AR15 for high power service rifle competition. It will be built on a Rock River lower and an upper kit from Sherluk with a Wilson national match barrel.

I am asking the experts at TFL if this is a good set up and would appreciate any recomendations.

Thanks
Ray

Wilson who?
Pickett?
:)
I would look at a known makers barrel from a quality shop

JP or Fulton have the goods you need to compete

Armalite or Bushmaster have service rifle uppers too

I don't think "Wilson" wins many championships

let me channel some Gale McMillan yer way:
This is how a barrel maker would judge them.. Hart the oldest and one of the best. Buttons
his barrels and uses the push method which relies on
lubrication to maintain steady twist so some times shows a little accuracy problem A second
generation family business. Shilen is the second oldest
company and is also a second generation business. They are capable of producing good rifle
barrels. Douglas . is just a production barrel company
and you will get a barrel that has never had a human eye look through it! Good enough for a
hunting rifle---Sometimes! You never know what you will
get.. Obermyer , Krieger the and K and P are a cut barrel maker, As far as I am concerned
that's enough said! Schnider learned his trade in the
McMillan shop and takes an engineers approach to making barrels. The other choice is. Lilja ..
The above choice is based on what I think can make a
barrel which will shoot the best!

Ray,

Look and see what the winners of HPS matches are using. Also see what the custom builders are using.

Concerning the Douglas being a production barrel compamy. That doesn't mean they're no good. I've got a Douglas on my M1A Super Match. If you do your part it will give you a x ring when the trigger is pulled.

I have a Douglas barrel on my M1D, and it shoots 1" groups with the stock 2.5x scope when I'm on my game. Can't ask for much more from an M1. :)
