And you could go the complete upper route, or if you build on a stripped upper, you would also then need a 9mm bolt and carrier, ejection port cover and barrel.
You can get these parts locally most of the time. I got them from Ranier Arms.
BTW, this needs to be in The Art Of The Rifle, not NFA section.

I have a 9mm Rock River Arms complete upper on my DPMS lower. It uses modified Uzi mags and runs pretty good. I bought the complete upper directly from RRA, but you could assemble your own if you have basic skills and tools.
 
Unless you plan to go SBR with your rifle, attach a supressor to it, or if you are lucky enough to own a registered DIAS (or rich enough to buy one), you are not building an NFA gun. However, 9mm ARs are probably the best guns for shoulder bumpfiring (faux-auto, as I like to call it), if you're into that sort of thing.
