Build your own gun??

I am interested in building several guns for myself. I am thinking of machining all parts myself, NOT buying an action and assembling the pieces. Can I legally do it?
 
Legally, you'd need a manufacturer's FFL. I think. That may only apply if you wanted to make guns for sale. :confused:

ATF should have the info, but their droids can't even interpret their regulations.
 
Only with a Federal Firearm Maufacturer's license. Unless you savor having JBTs kicking in your door in the middle of the night looking for an excuse to shoot you, I would recommend not doing this unless you either get a license or purchase a legal, serial-numbered, receiver or frame.
 
You can legally machine a gun for your self you just can not sell it

you can buy an 80% finnished AR lower and spend a few hours and roll your own AR15 lower
