Budget 40 S&W Pistols

What is a good, budget minded 40S&W pistol...say the <$400 range? Have looked at EAA Witness, Ruger P944, and S&W 410/411's. Any others out there worth considering?

Out of the lineup you suggest, I believe Ruger is an excellent choice. We sell a lot of them, they're not fragile, a good value, and backed by a company that stands behind it's product. I sell quite a few to guys going to the LE Academy that don't want to spend a lot on a gun for training, since they don't necessarily know what department they'll be going with, and what the dept. allows for carry.

CZ has a new double action .40 (I can't remember the model number) that we've been selling for +/- $300 that looks like a good value, but the gun is ugly compared to a CZ 75.

Taurus also has a line of .40's you might want to check in to, but I don't think they have the durability of the Ruger P series.

You can't go wrong with a Ruger. If you don't like the feel, check into a FireStorm.

HS arms is supposed to be coming out with a .40 version of the HS2000 RSN(real soon now, a copyrighted term from management everywhere). If it's around the price of the 9mm, it will probably be around $270-$300 and worth every penny.

CZ75b, I have the 9mm version. They are well made, very accurate and reliable. Cz also has the 40B which has a frame that is similar in shape to a 1911. It started out as a project between colt and cz. Mark
