Okay,

Right i have been looking at getting a decent shotty for a while but im undecided the prices vary alot from like 100-1500.

What i would like is a good entry level 12 guage that will provide hours of fun for a very good price like $100-$250 which has a tactical look to it. foldable stock, heat shield ect doesnt need them but it gives you an idea.

I would love a spas 12 but there a bit outta my range for a while.

Recomendations

Nope not to bad :D

I would like to build up a list though so any thing else ?? as i would like to see what else is out there. Plus i dont want to have to deal with all this ship to a dealer etc.

I like that one though

Get a used(but not abused) Mossberg 500 Persuader/870 HD/1300 Defender from a pawnshop for$150-$200.In my area you can also get a new Maverick 88 (made by Mossberg) for $179. Then gussy it up as desired.:D

Here's another vote for the Mossberg 500 Persuader. Good friend bought his at a gun show - been an excellent gun since. Very good quality. And affordable! He got it for ~$300 NIB, he may have bargained (wasn't there for it), and a used one will certainly be less. Happy hunting...!

Maverick 88 HD models go for 150 bucks here. My 6 shot mossberg persuader was 220 dollars and came with a pistol grip (not practical, but neat)

Maverick 88s are actually quite a good buy in my opinion. I've got one and it takes all the parts that my mossy does (except for like, 2) and works very well.

You can't go wrong with a remington 870 either, but I like the ergos and price of the mossies.

For budget, I say get a maverick 88 HD (6-shot 18.5 inch barrel) and an ATI side folder. You won't be able to add a new forend on the maverick unless you have a spare 500 forend (or rather, the little tube inside of it)

The Saiga-12 is a very fine shotgun. If you are mechanically inclined, you can convert it to accept a regular AK stock and pistol grip.

Try the pawn shops and gunshops for used guns. I just got a lightly used Rem 870 for $175.00. I see good deals all the time. Just wish I had the money for them all!

I just did up a page on home defense shotguns. You might find it entertaining and possibly enlightening.

There is a lot of plastic whizbang BS out there for shotguns. Tactics belong in your head, not on your gun.

My best recommendation is to hit the pawnshops, with $150 in your pocket. Consider the Remington 870, Mossberg 500, or Winchester 1200/1300 as possibilities.

I got my used, like new, Remington 870 in the same configuration as m14nut's FN.

My wood furnished 1300 was about 140.

There are some Chinese knockoffs of tactical 870s for less than $200, UNC I believe

I just got a older model Remington 870 Wingmaster with 20 in barrel, rifle sights, and extended mag for $285. Same price as a new 870 but built way better.

Cheers guys :D

Mossberg 500 is a nice looking shotty :D

Also Xavier love the shotgun page, like this image the most:

I like the idea of the little pistol on the stock :D Actually might be a good idea
