Buck Mark slide stop problem

Just over a month ago I purchased a new Field 5.5 and have close to a thousand rds thru it so far. Today at the range I experienced a couple of misfeeds on one particular magazine load and after releasing the magazine I noticed the thumb tab of the slide stop falling down off the slide. The latch was still in place, but the thumb tab had come loose from it. It looks the same as the tab on the safety, and must attach itself the same way. But what way is that? There appears to be a small hole in the end of the stop latch for connecting the tab back, but I'm not sure what is used to make that connection. Comparing it to the safety tab, there doesn't seem to be any screw used for holding it in place. How do I repair this annoyance?
BTW, I ran three more magazine loads after this happened with the tab put back loosely in place on the slide stop latch and didn't have any more problems with misfeeds. Any Buck Mark owners experience this problem before? I would appreciate hearing from you.

Yeah, it sounds like the slide-stop spring fell out, came loose, or simply broke. All you have to do to check this is remove the grip panel. There, below the slide stop, is a "V" shapes spring, which fits in to the recess. It is held in place by the grip panel. Check this, and see if this helps.
