Browning x bolt and Zeiss scope

Hey guys my new x bolt .308 is coming sometime this week and im wondering if a Zeiss conquest 3.5-10x44 will fit on a set of medium rings or should i go with a 3-9x40

Rule of thumb when mounting telescopic sights on rifles:
"use the lowest set of rings which will permit the scope to be mounted as close to the center line of the bore-line, without touching the barrel or interfering with proper function of the bolt"

on either of those scope objectives (40 / 44 mm) i would start with the low rings. If that is not enough height, then return those & install a set of medium.

You "can" probably get away with low rings since you don't have to worry about clearing the bolt handle with a 60 degree uplift rifle like that.

Mediums should work for sure but might be too high for your taste.

I'd get low rings. And the 3-9x40 is a better scope for a lightweight rifle like the x-bolt. The 3-9 is more compact and has constant eye relief than it's bigger brother.

i was thinking of going with the 3-9x40 but where i work i get them for about the same price so thats why i thought maybe go with the 3.5-10-44. will i be gaining much by going witht the 44 or would i need to get a 30mm tube to notice a difference. the gun is mainly going to be for bear and deer so i want to pull in as much light as possible

Good luck with low rings. I couldn't make them work with a 3-9 X 40 Nikon Monarch. The medium rings were perfect and not too high. I've got high rings now (4-16 X 50AO) and I like them.

Here is a pic of the X-Bolt with a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 mounted in low, DNZ Game Reaper mounts.
