Browning Superposed: I have to brag

Well, I got my bonus for the year, and there's only one thing to do with it. Save half. Spend half. But what to buy?

It has been a dream of mine to have a Belgian Browning superposed, and to be able to buy one in my mid-twenties, I never thought I would have the chance.

So two weeks ago, while visiting my girlfriend in RI (of all places to find a gun!) I saw it.

A 1959 28" IM/M Belgian Browning Superposed. In twelve gauge. I was very excited. I didn't expect to find one so quickly.

I love it. I have shot it. And I actually hit a few.

Sorry to brag. Thanks.

Old shotguns are most cool. My Superposed is a 1951 with nice wood, about 90%+ with mods. It's got Brileys and porting, but the stock was shortened and a spacer put back in. It's a sweet shooter, still fairly tight, and that's really why I bought it. Doesn't get much better than that.

My other oldie is a Model 12 built in 1923. It's a great shooter as well, not a museum piece. But it's the smoothest pump I've ever shot. Pretty, just not valuable. Great trap gun.

Superposed....another of John Moses Brownings ingenous creations. Unfortunately he died before seeing it reach the marketplace. Here's photos of a Pidgeon Grade Broadway Trap I traded away last year. Simply elegant lines and a superb shooter. Parting with it was akin to placing a child up for adoption...:( but I found something much rarer that couldn't live without.

The beginning of the end for the Superposed was the Belgium made "Leige" (rare high grade 4 bbl set). This was the predecessor to the Citori. Only made for two years it was Brownings attempt to economize the legendary Superpose and stay competitive in the O/U market.

An original Winchester 52B Sporter, mint condition, virgin no drilled/tapped receiver....everything but the shipping box.

AWESOME!

My father collects the Superposed and the Winchester 101. He also has a few Citori shotguns.

I own 3 Citori shotguns, but admire and respect JMB's original Superposed. A great gun.
