Browning side by side?

At the trap club someone was saying that Browning once made a side by side shotgun.
That one sure got by me.
Did they? What was it called?

It was called the BSS----i saw 3 in the case at the shop last weekend priced from $1299 to $1999.

My dad bought one new way back when and still has it.

Not sure what they called it. But, I had occasion to shoot one last fall. My hunting partner inherited one from his grandfather. It had a 26" barrel and was better balanced than I expected for a side by side. Side by sides generally feel front end heavy to me. It was a nice gun and was busting clays right and left.

IIRC, the BSS was intended to be the new SXS for those whose old ones were turning into collector's items rather than field guns.

Buddy had a 20 gauge, very nice little shooter for the uplands. Hard kicker with 3" mags, but what 6 1/4 lb shotgun isn't?

I believe SKB made these, and there was a matching SXS in the SKB catalog at one time...

BSS made from 1971-1988 by Miroku. I don't know that gun but had a custom trap single made by Miroku before they contracted to build Brownings. Very well made, fit, function and finish are quality. Durability great, it earned it's keep with three generations of shooters, and may yet earn bucks with a fourth generation.

BSS

I think they're a great $500. SxS which is what they went for up until a couple of years ago. I not sure I'd pony up what being asked now but we'll see with a new Ruger SXS coming out I think used prices will drop across the board.

BSS available in sidelock and boxlock. Couple different grades. Current book ranges from around 500 to well over two grand depending on which style and grade.

I have 2. I've shot a pile of pheasants with the 26" 12g I bought 20 yrs ago. When my father died I got his like new 20g, slightly fancier and very sweet handling. They are very well made by Miroku. I did see one at a gunshow last year that was Korean IIRC and not as nearly as nice.
