Browning Shotgun ID

I'm getting ready to purchase a Browning Shotgun, but the only numbers I can find do not match what others have told me should be there.

Here is the serial number as read on the underside of the gun, as best as I can determine:
8V
4454

There may be a 5th number but Its either worn or not there.

Can anyone help determine the age and or anything else from this?? :D

Thanks

WHAT Browning shotgun? There are a bunch.
Assuming you have an A5 auto, Blue Book says the 8V means it is a Magnum made in 1958. Sounds like it is well worn if you can't be sure there is another digit on the serial number.

Ok... I just confirmed that it is indeed a Browning Auto-5 12 gauge magnum, and that the entire serial is: 8V 4454, so if this is a 1958 and fairly used condition, meaning that it is very worn from use and handling, but there are no cracks in the stock or discoloring of the barrel, and it seems to be missing the shoulder pad (if it ever had one), would the price of under $100 be good?

"Under $100" is a steal for a Browning in functional condition. Glad the foreend is not cracked, the wood is thin and the recoil operation shakes it pretty hard.
