So I've recently picked up a nice Browning Safari (1965) in 30 06.
It has its' rear iron sight plus hooded front sight. It is factory drilled
and tapped. This is bolt action not BAR.
I have a Ziess Conquest 3x9 -40 that I intend to transfer from a
Browning ABolt 22 to the new 30 06. The Ziess belongs on a centerfire
rifle rather than doing current duty on a 22lr-- goes without saying.
Question-- Should I go with a single piece mount? I am aware that
Leupold makes one. Are these manufactured by anyone else today?
Two piece Leupold mounts? Possibly just go with standard Weaver
mounts? Thoughts.
Question-- With regard to rings, should I use those with 2 screws top
and bottom, or is a single screw top and bottom ring just fine? What
manufacturer would you use? And, what height? I do not want to remove
the factory iron sights -- or hood. Thoughts.
I appreciate input on what you have done under similar circumstances.
Thanks
David
