Browning Recoilless

Just shot one. It was sooooo nice. Why the hell did they stop making them? Ya ya low sales..... Still they should of tried harder. My sister can't handle a 12 guage but loves to shoot trap. The recoiless was a bit heavy for her but she said it kicked less than a 20 guage so she liked it. They should of at least tried selling it as a lady friendly gun.

BTW. Anyone know how that thing worked? The tube on the end of the muzzle was very strange.

If I remember right, the barrel and some other parts snap forwards when you pull the trigger, and then fires when they are still moving. What this accomplishes is that as it recoils, it must first slow and stop the forwards advancing barrel (and whatever else, can't remember), absorbing a good portion of the recoil.

This is similar to how open bolt submachines featuring advanced primer detonation operate, except in a single shot shotgun.
