Browning Lever Rifle (BLR)

The same reason controlled round feed was ever important to anybody. Reliability.

Savage 99 is/was controlled round feed.

A BLR in 358 would be great for moose. I prefer the short action BLRs; the long action models are poorly balanced.

I'm not a big fan of the .243 but no doubt it would be a pleasant shooter. Perhaps it is better with today's bullets than it used to be (a somewhat marginal caliber for deer IMO).
243 is a fantastic whitetail cartridge used by many deer hunters around the world. Nice thing is the light recoil and inexpensive ammo. My son took 3 year before last with the PP 100gr soft tips, $14 a box. None of them took a step

A couple of the guys I hunt with in PA use a BLR at least one of them is in 308. As a hunting rifle I can think of any downside with the exception of the initial rifle cost is on the higher side.
