Browning HP

Hello all, I am a new member and this is my first post.

I recently purchased a Browning HP(Mark III) and would like to replace the cheap plastic grips. Who makes a good replacement grip and where can they be purchased?

After shooting this gun I started thinking about defensive combat competition and am also interested in recomendations for a holster that is suitable for competition.

Thanks in advance.

Ray

I have 4 Browning 10 shoot clips for sale along with a blade-tech OWB Holster that is IDPA Approved. also have the Blade-Tech Dual Mag. Holder for the Browning.

The Holster ,Mags and Dual Mag. Holder are all for the 9mm Mark III.

Here is the Web Page for the Holster; http://www.blade-tech.com/belt_holster.html

I will give you the Holster, Mags and Mag Carrier in trade for 5 glock 17 - 10 round mags. seems a fair deal..... Let me know over EMail.

Greetings Ray; And a big welcome to TFL. I
own the Browning Hi-Power "Practical" model,
and really like the Pachmayr Signature grips
that came standard on this firearm. :D I believe that Midway USA in Missouri carries
these; but I am not for sure?

Ray HP-Welcome to TFL. Lots of great folks here. I have owned HP's for several years now. I have medium sized hands and fingers and I find that the Pachmayr rubber stocks make the grip too fat for me. In my opinion, the best stocks are the thin Navidrex Micarta or Kim Ahrends woods and laminates. Not cheap, but well worth the money. They can be found at http://www.brownells.com The belgian wood stocks aren't bad, either. If you're interested in the belgian ones, I happen to have a set that I'm not using.

Ray,

Welcome to TFL and congrats on your excellent choice in firearms! I prefer either Craig Spegels' or Kim Ahrend's wooden grips. Cylinder and Slide usually has Spegels in stock and Brownells carries the Ahrends

I do not like Pachmyer grips as they destroy the best points of a BHP. They are too bulky and do not make a lot of sense for people with small hands. My answer is Spegel or Ahrens grips. Kim Ahrens wife is a true joy to work with on the telephone. As far as holsters go, I like Kramer's Duane Thomas model very much. Holsters are like grips, you get what you pay for. Get the best! Regards, Richard.

I have a Hi power From AIM surplus. It was Israeli military contract FN
I have NO 10 round magazines I have 5 13 rounders and 3 17! rounders.
I have Ahrends grips on mine with Novak sights and C&S extended safety.
For leather just click the link in my signiture line. ;)

Ray,
Welcome to TFL. It's a great site. I've only been here a couple of months myself but have found a wealth of information and quite a bit of wisdom.
Uncle Mike's sells a hard rubber copy of the Craig Spegel wood grips for the HP. They are very nice and only $18-$20. Many gun shops stock them. For IDPA competition you can't go wrong with a Bladetech holster. In leather, the Kramer vertical scabbard is nice.

Hello. I think you'll really like the HP; I do and it's my favorite all around pistol. As some have noted, Craig Spegel's stocks are fantastic and the Uncle Mike's rubber copy, while a bit thicker, are very good. Should you purchase a set of these, don't be surprised if they don't fit flat against the frame. With a bit of bending, you can make them do so. Best.

I have replaced the Pachmayr's on my Practical with Hogue woode grips, and like them. They are a little thinner than stock, but they still offer a good feel for my large hands.

Re: the factory plastic grips, I have sanded the thumb thing off so I copuld get at the thumbsafety without shifting my grip. This works, but does look awful.

I have a number of HP's. The Pachmayr grips are fine if your hand is big enough and you like rubber. Hogue makes a slimmer grip, panels, also in rubber. The Spegal wood are good and available from Cylinder & Slide. I also have a set of grips made from carbon fiber. The company is Carbon Creations and though you may not like the looks, they feel great, as if your grip was wrapped in shark skin.

I'll second Hogue's rubber grips. Pachs make the stock too fat for me whereas the Hogues are a bit slimmer than the BS standard plastic.

Welcome to TFL & congrats on a fine choice in the BHP.
