I'm looking at a Browning HP that's in one of our local gunshops..it is a fairly recent model, probably manufactured in the late '80s..did any HP's have rear adjustable sights installed from the (Belgium) factory?
Hello. Yes, Brownings were offered from the factory with adjustable sights. I had one in the early seventies. If I recall correctly, the rear sight adjustment screws were not "click adjustable" and really needed to be locktited to hold zero. Windage was set by loosening one screw and tightening another and the whole sight was a pretty high affair.
Best.
My two BHPs from the '80s still have their original adjustable rear sights. One was made in '81 and has a rear sight exactly as Mr. Camp describes (with opposing screws to tighten and loosen for windage). The other, made in '86, has quite a different type of rear sight, although also adjustable.
Unfortunately I don't know the date range of these sights or whether they were used successively or concurrently (I assume the former).
On later BHPs I've seen at least one or two additional types of factory adjustable rear sights. But I don't recall when Browning used them. They may have been from the '90s and therefore not relevant to the question.

Thanks for the info on the sights..I'll have another look at them this week, and if they are as you describe, I can safely assume that they are "factory".
