Browning HiPower or CZ 75 ?

Well that's a hard choice since they're both good guns :)

If I already owned a 1911 I think that I'd go with the CZ. Just for something different, since the 1911 and the P35 are so similar.

Of course you could take the easy road and by both !

MusclesMcGee-I own both. These two frames fit my hand like a glove. In my experience, the early CZ75's, mine are very early versions with no import markings, are just as accurate as my Brownings. I have fired the newer, mid 90's, CZ's and found them to be of a lower quality standard than mine and reflect that in the accuracy department. Overall, I would steer you towards the Hi Power. Very accurate, but getting more expensive to own. I don't like the newer stocks of the Hi Powers. They just don't feel right.

Go with the CZ. It's DA/SA and "cocked and locked" features give you a lot of versatility. You'll also not have to experience the dreaded "High Power hammer bite."

My first reply was only a test to see if my pass worked. It did so I will say if you like 1911A1s and are familiar with their manual of arms go for the BHP. I don't care for the sights or the small gripping surface on the CZ75. In fairness I will do another session with it and see if I like it any better. Regards, Richard.

Hello; Both would make a great selection; but
I must agree with Richard, go for the Browning Hi-Power.

If you've narrowed it down to these two choices, go for the Browning. If you're open to other 9mm pistols, consider something by S&W -- their marketing may not be the best but their pistols have come a long way in the past two decades (especially the new Tactical series).

Some day I want both. But would probably give the nod to the Hi Power first. You cannot go wrong with either one.

aztec777,

Finally, someone that agree with me. I get grief when I tell people the earlier CZs are superior to the newest offerings. The trigger pulls, fit, finish and ruggedness of the early CZs is unmatched.

MusclesMcGee

Do you want a DA or SA auto? If you want a DA with cocked and locked go CZ, if not go with the HP. Some folks buy the CZ and only use it as a SA, if you intend to do this go with the HP.

So many pistols, so little money.

Tecolote-I have only seen one other CZ75 that had no import markings. It was in mint condition and in a collection. I don't think that many people have had the opportunity to hold and examine the very early, pre Action Arms(?), and see the difference for themselves. I will never get rid of my early CZ's. I don't like the new stocks that are supplied and I understand the the guide rod is now plastic. Writing on the wall as far as I'm concerned.

MusclesMcGee-Go to you local gun shop or a gun show and pic up both. If you can, rent them at a range for further evaluation. I really don't think that you can go wrong with either piece. Good luck!

Greetings, MusclesMcGee. In my opinion, go for the Hi Power. This is purely subjective as it's my favorite handgun. They are getting harder to find and most folks who use them, particularly the newer ones, really like them. Then, as soon as you can, buy a CZ75. I like both really well, but I think that the HP's the way to go if you must pick one. Parts are plentious and sights are better as well. best.

I have the Hi-Power and the CZ-75. I really like both of them but if I could have only one of them I would take the Hi-Power without hesitation. NOTHING feels like a Hi-Power...the balance of that pistol to my way of thinking is as good as it gets. The fit and finish is also better on the Browning... I have a silver chrome model and the slide fit is just about as tight as on my Kimber. Get a Hi-Power while you still can!!

For me, it's gotta be the CZ. Nothing else feels like a CZ in the palm of my hand; it's got great balance and is true. It costs $150 less and performs just as well.

CZ75 by a nose (and a hundred and fifty semolians...)

The BHP is no longer being imported into the U.S. as being confirmed by one of the distributors in the Shotgun News as of this month. Get the BHP while you can.

Get the Highpower! They aren't going to be selling new ones in U.S. for long.

Beware of the BHP if you have meaty hands. I can't shoot one without getting cut by the "hammer bite"...

That being said, if all else is equal, go with the BHP cause they are getting harder to find. The CZ 75B will be around for some time yet.
