Browning Hi Power, Collectible ?

I would appreciate your input. I have a T series 1968 Belgium Hi Power, fixed sights, fired very few times ( 50+shots) very good condition.
Question: Is it more of a collectible or should I start to put some rounds through it ? Thank You

It has been shot. If you shot 50 or 500 if you take care of it then it is worth about the same. Until you get to 5,000 it will be worth about the same.

They are more valuable than a new MKIII but in the end they made a lot of them. Condition is everything but unless it has the pouch, original mags, etc... it is not worth more than $1000 - $1200 give or take to the right buyer.

If it were mine I would shoot it and take good care of it. Let your heirs worry about what it is worth as a collectible.

Once it has been fired, it is no longer new, so shooting it more won't matter much. Besides, it will be "grandpa's old gun" before it becomes a real collectible.

Thanks for your input

Yes, I do have the original red pouch and mags, I know I don't plan to sell it so I am still on the fence about shooting it frequently. I think I will still start looking for one I can feel good about putting some rounds through.

Even with the pouch and mags they rarely go higher than $1200 unless you get lucky and get a bidding war going on GB.

If you are interested in an MKIII let me know I am selling one.

I forget: does your '68 bhp have an internal or external extractor? If internal: i would shoot seldom- until I bought a replacement extractor. Internal extractors are difficult to find. If external, i would shoot it whenever the urge hit.
