Just picked up a nice one in wood with choke tubes in .12 ga. for $525.00. Main use is for doves and clays. Season starts in TX Sept.1 can't wait. Heard it's a good one, any comments?

I bought two of them about 3 years ago.One for my wife and one for my daughter.Had the stocks shortened to fit them.Very pleased with this shotgun.I've gone retro and shoot side by sides now but do enjoy the brownings.I scope my wife's and use it for a deer gun-I'm in the shotgun zone in Michigan-and it works well for that.They use theirs for birds,skeet and clays.
 
I still see a few of the Browning Gold models around ...they're still in production but in 10ga only. They went out of production about 4 or 5 yrs ago ....

I think they're solid guns / I wouldn't have any reservations about them.
 
I have a synthetic, semi hump-back. I got it in 2002. It does get treated a bit rough, but always gets well cleaned. It has seen a lot of swamp water, sweaty dirty fields and busted up some ice(unloaded, using the stock). No hic-ups.
The gas piston is hard to clean. The schematic shows all the parts of the piston, but I cant get it apart so I soak the whole thing in Hoppes for a while and blast it out with rem oil.
It is heavy, so a lot of walking will take its toll, but the weight is good to offset heavy loads for ducks, geese and even turkeys.

The price seems good.

I shot A-5's before I got the Gold and it has a similar feel. It feels a lot different than an 1100 or an 870.
 
I fancy those guns... I never even shot one but they feel like quality to me...

But you need to be aware...

The .12 gauge is a crew served weapon. You will need special transportation considerations and I think they are illegal for migratory federally regulated species...:eek:
