Browning Buckmark

I have a Browning Buckmark 22LR with a 5-1/2 inch bull barrel. Some questions: Who makes aftermarket grips for it, and where can I get an extra barrel for it? I don't want one of the 10 inch bull barrels, just one of the 6 to 7-1/2 inch standard weight ones. BTW, I shoot NRA Conventional Pistol with it, using a Pentax red dot sight. I like the gun, out of many thousands of rounds fired it has jammed exactly ONCE, with a stovepipe.
Or do I just buy another Buckmark to use as a hunting and plinker pistol?

Buy another one...

I have three:

Micro model with factory open sights.

Standard model with a Tasco ProPoint.

5.5 Target with a 2x LER scope.

Good guns at a good price. :D

Good idea...but I have another question: Why are the magazines so expensive? I had to pay $25 for one in order to have a spare.

B24H,

You can get replacement grips from Browning directly but they aren't cheap. As for mags, I don't know why they're so expensive. The best price I've seen on factory mags is $22 at local gun show. You can get non-factory mags for around $17 from most places but I hear these are notoriously unreliable in the Brownings. I agree, Buckmark reliability is great as long as you're using a quality mag and you stay away from low velocity target ammo (some won't even cycle the action). Good shooting!

WARNING!:

The BuckMark Owners Manual says:

"Do not remove the grips from the pistol, as they serve to retain and position internal parts. "

Be careful about replacing those grips, or have a qualified gunsmith or the Browning Service Facility do it for you.

Seronac, its the same thing with the Ruger MrkII, it says "Only use grips made by Ruger", or something like that because the grip area holds some thing in it, like a spring or something that can get messed up with aftermarket grips.

Hey guys,

What brand of mount(s) are you using on your pistols? A buddy of mine has a Buckmark that he is thinking about putting some type of scope on. None of the local shops have one, or have ever, so for him it would be ordered sight unseen, and he would like to know how they attach and look before he lays down his money.
thanks,
bergie

Browning makes quite a variety of grips for the Buckmark. Just look at the ones on their different models and order a set you like. I have their gray and black Dymondwood on my two tone Micro. Extra barrels? Again Browning makes a boat load of different barrels for their different models. You might try the fluted round 7.5" Bullseye barrrel. Volquartsen also makes one with or without a muzzle brake in stainless or black. Don`t worry about removing the grips! Just lay it flat on a table and take them off slowly, look where the parts go and make sure they`re there when you put the grips back on. It`s no big deal at all. If you can strip the pistol you can certainly change grips. Marcus

My Standard Model has a B-Square mount on it. They make a short and long mount. The long version covers the receiver and extends the full length of a 5.5" barrel.

They attach using the rear sight base screws (remove the sight base, replace with the scope base), the long mount also replaces the front sight.

It looks like any other Weaver style rail you might see on a rifle or pistol..
