Browning BPS info needed.

I have a browning BPS with a identification number of 17247RN142. I know that the first 5 digits are the serial number and the RN stands for the year my gun was manufactured which was 1979, but the 142 is supposed to be the model and this number doesn't match anything on brownings website.
Any kind of help with this would be appreciated. The shotgun has two 30" barrols one is a trap and the other is a field.

I assume it has a monte carlo stock. It is probably the first year trap model. I have one also and it is not listed in Brownings serial number listings.

AFAIK, the BPS was never issued as a 2-barrel set, ergo I would submit that you have a BPS with an extra barrel.

If it has the Monte Carlo buttstock, it's a Trap Gun with an extra 30" Field bbl.

If it has the standard buttstock, you have a Field/Hunting Model with an extra 30" Trap barrel (available through 1984).
