Browning BDM: Question and price check

I came across a BDM the other day, guy wants $500 for it. It is in great condition, and has 2 browning 15 round mags with it. I have never had any experience with the BDM. I am wondering if that is a fair price, and wanting to know if any on this board has any feedback, positive or negative about the BDM.

If you are talking about the full size double action Browning 9MM and it comes with two 15 roound mags then that is not a bad deal.

The mags now sell for $100+ each because they are fairly uncommon.

I think the .380 had 13 round hi caps only.

This is the 9mm, right?

It`s an excellent gun but the hi caps are way expensive. Figure if it had 10 rounders it`d go for $300-350 or maybe a little less. You can get 10 round mags all over the place cheap but the gun is too big for 10 rounds.

Some guys don`t like the decocker feature but it doesn`t bother me. Just make sure you`re not pointing it at something.

BDM

I paid $279 for mine in 10/97 and it came with two 10 magazines. I later bought two high capacity magazines for it for $100 each. If this BDM is pristine I would go for it. I am sure the resale of the BDMs are going up. Regards, Richard

I was thinking about getting one early this year. I did a "historical" search on gunbroker or auction arms (looking for auctions that had ended). At that time the best deal that I saw was a newish pistol with two hi caps (std caps!). It sold for 415 in the first half of Dec.

I never saw a better deal for the next few months, and then I changed my mind and started looking for something plastic :) But that's material for another thread.

I think I was in that shop George Hill mentioned, bout mid March. They had hi caps for a good price. Thought about getting the mag before buying the pistol, but held off. I THINK they were asking $60 apiece and had 2 or 3. If it wasn't that shop it was somewhere in Provo/Orem. (I dropped in for a weekend for a family visit and my brother in law and I did some window shopping)

So bottom line.... I think that 500 is fair deal. You might do better if you are real patient AND lucky, but I doubt you'd save much more than $50 to $75. If this price is not firm/fixed you could offer a bit less?

thank you all for the info, if there is a Browning forum out there i have not been able to find it. But, i think i will take a chance and purchase the BDM.

That is a great source for Browning info. The site changed awhile back, and I don't know how much the bdm has been discussed lately. Make sure to do a search on the archived old forum. I know that there's alot of good info there. If you haven't already done so, you'll find good info here by searching back on "bdm" too. (Always a good idea, not too many questions that I've thought of that someone else hasn't already asked)

FWIW, one of the things that made me want one was the VERY slim profile on a double stack. (see the thread here http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=116923 for some excellent info and pics.

If you look at my tagline you'll see that I decided on a P99 over the BDM. Don't want to push my choice in a thread that doesn't ask for it. There are alot of similarities, and some obvious differences. The similarities say to me that you might want to consider one?

Either way, Good luck and let us know how it goes.

About a year ago there were several NIB BDMs selling for about $350. Don't believe they came with standard capacity mags.
