I just bought my son a 1969 Browning BAR in 308. Haven't fired it yet but the gun seemed to be in good working order. My son was fooling around with it and dry snapped the trigger. Now the bolt will not return more than 1/2 an inch and jams (the bolt operated properly prior to the dry snap). Is this a common problem with these guns? Is there an easy remedy for this (is this something that I can handle) or is this something that I will have to take to a smith to be repaired ? I have disassembled and re-finished quite a few guns in my day, but never a semi auto.
I removed the forestock and the gun does not look complicated.
Any help would be appreciated.
