Browning Auto 5 sweet 16

My dad has two old Browning Auto 5 shot guns. One is a sweet 16 made in Belgum. He is pretty sure it's full choke. Dad says it only has maybe 40-60 rounds through it. It looks in very good condition to me. He is 86 and can't begin to remember when he bought it. I heard it could be valuable?

Anyone know approximately its value, or just a ball park?

There should be a choke mark on the barrel after the Browning address:
* Full
*- Improved Modified
** Modified
**- Improved Cylinder
**S Skeet
*** Cylinder

Be aware that not all 16 ga Browning A5s are Sweet Sixteens, only those so inscribed on the left side of the action.

Yea, I just found that out. It is not a Sweet 16. It is a Browning Auto 5 and it is made in Belgum but it does not say Sweet 16 on the side of the receiver.

It is in very good condition. I would say the wood is 90 percent and the blueing is 95 percent except where the shells go in which is 85 to 90 percent. There is only one * after the Made In Belgum, so I assume it is in fact a full choke.

Thanks everyone for your replys.

Really hard to give an exact value for the gun, without an actual photo.

The Sweet 16 models are a half pound lighter in weight, and usually command about $100 more in price, if everything else is equal.

If I was in your situation, I would offer your Dad $750 for the shotgun. That is probably a price that would be fair to both of you.
