Should I trade my stainless mil spec 1911 for a browning a bolt Wood stock 270 wsm with Nikon Buckmaster scope. Input would be great. It's in real good shape. Thanks in advance guys.

A couple of questions. Do you reload? Is giving up your 1911 going to leave a smoking hole in your pistols?

Factory ammunition for 270WSM is going to be costly and/or hard to find. Not an issue if you reload.

If you do reload, there are more bullets becoming available in .277. I reload for a couple of magnums, 340WBY, 300WBY, along with 6.5/284, 223REM, 44mag, 357/38SPL.

I have noticed that WSM ammo is as expensive as the WBY factory ammo recently.

I like the idea of the WSM/RSAUM's. A beltless medium capacity magnum cartridge, of superior efficiency, to the full length belted and Ultramag cartridges.

I have nothing bad to say about the A-Bolts, my brother had one in 7mag and was pleased with the fit and finish, and classic appearance of the Browning rifles.

If I had all the pistols I want/need, I might seriously consider this trade, simply because I think that I might enjoy tinkering with something a little different. I might not choose 270 though. I have no 7mm in my rifle rack right now, so. Enjoy!

What KIND of mil-spec 1911? Features and condition?

How many rounds through the Browning? What sub-model?

Generally, with low round count, yes I'd make that trade, unless it was my last pistol. But that's a barrel burner.

The rifle is probably worth more money. Without knowing which rifles and handguns you also own and what type of hunting or shooting you do it is hard to say.

I wouldn't make that trade. But I already own other rifles I like much better. It wouldn't fill a need for me, and I'm not crazy about the rifle or chambering. But if you need a rifle more than you need the 1911, and if it is something you like then it might be a good trade for you.

is it the only 1911 you have? or the only handgun you have? if you answered no to either of those questions make the trade? as long as the 1911 is not a colt. (i have a thing for colts).

the 270 wsm is a great round and if you reload then it can be very good.

its up to you in the long run and my opinion does not mean much. however i would make the trade. the 270 wsm is great but i still prefer the 270 win.

oh yeah and browning makes a grade a rifle worth much more than their cost you can not go wrong as long as the last guy did not beat the hell out of it.

I would like more information on the exact make and model of your 1911 before I cast my vote. I shot an A-Bolt for years as my elk hunting rifle and I have nothing bad to say about them. A little trigger work and it was a light weight, accurate hunting machine. I finally got tired of the punishing recoil though (it was chambered for 300 Win Mag) and sold it to a friend.
