Help is needed. I have a Browning 16ga. a5 that was given to me The the shotgun is in great shape except for the forearm. My inquire is to the approximate year it might have been made, the serial no. on the the receiver and barrel match and the serial number starts out with an x and then the rest of the serial number has five numbers which the first three are 604xx. Would appreciate any and all help. Thanks.

According to one of my references, Browning manufactured 15,699 A5s in 1952. Based upon the serial number you provided, yours was one of them.
