I have a Chip Mccormick SS slide on a Springfield mat black frame and am considering trying Brownells o.d. green teflon moly oven cure finish. I would like to hear about anyones experience with this finish. The slide has polished flats. Thanks, Tom.

Tom-
I had to take some off of a rifle I refinished a few years ago. It was tough and slick. It stuck to the metal very well. Looked nice too. The instructions are very easy to follow. Even I could get it right.

I just refinished two SS Garand gas cylinders with it. I used the dark gray intended to match manganese parkerizing. It works incredibly well. I bead blasted the surfaces. I used the recommended two passes. It's MEK carrier evaporates so fast it doesn't run easily. MEK on a swab removes overspray before it has been baked. Once baked, as Scortch says, it is difficult to remove.

Not that if your passes are two light, it dries so fast it creates a rough texture that will show up in the final work. I recommend you get a couple of steel scraps to try your technique on first.

Does it have to be pea-soup green or is tacti-cool black available... :D

Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmm... manganese dark grey parkerizing... I'm gonna try that one. :)
